HK (D1) - 大家乐 (Dai Kah Lok)

大家乐 (Dai Kah Lok) is a chain restaurant populated in HK. Whenever you walk to, you can see their signboard. In other words, they are quite similar to McDonald in Malaysia but they don't sell burger only. Instead, they have much more choices to choose from. Rice, mee, western food and even small steamboat pot.

Well, this is very first meal i have in HK once i have checked out from HKIA and settle with my hotel room. It was starving at that time as already pass my dinner time so we give this a try as strongly recommend by my HK colleague. ^.^

When i walked into this Restaurant located at Jordan, i as shocked as the place is full of crowd even though already pass 8.30pm. We need share table with other customers as we hardly get an empty table.

Advertisement board located outside of the restarant.

One set of steamboat pot for two. As estimated, HK meal portion
is much huge compare to Malaysia. So this portion is already
enough for two hungry person. Can you see the stove? It is pretty
small to heat up the pot but it manage to boil the soup in short time.

Ku Lou Meat 咕噜肉

Without a solid reason, i just love to have this dish in my meal. With a sweet & sour taste, it really make me feels to have appetite for my meal. Thus, i have tried to cook this dish myself (& some help from him) and we are successful! Yummy!

Ingredients (Can serve for 5-6 persons):
Pork belly 600g
Cucumber
Pineapple - 1 slice
Tomato - 2 pcs
Garlic
egg - 1 pcs
Corn flour
One bottle of tomato sauce
little bit of sugar
1 1/2 cup of boiled water

Method:
1. Cut pork belly into cubes and marinate with sesame oil, salt, soya sauce and xiu heng zhao (绍兴酒). For better taste, marinate it for overnight. Mix with corn flour first then egg.
2. Cut cucumber, pineapple and tomato into cubes. Mince then garlic. These ingredients are meant for the sauce.
3. Pour oil into hot fried pan.
4. Once oil is hot enough, put in pork meat one by one and fried it slowly until it become goldenish.
5. We can start prepare for tomato sauce after all pork meat are already fried.
6. Hot some oil in pan. Put in garlic and stir it until you smell the garlic and it becomes goldenish.
7. Pour in cucumber, pineapple and tomato cubes. Stir it for 1 minute.
8. Put in tomato sauce and stir together with those ingredient. Pour in water to dilute the sauce. Level of dilution subject to own preference. Put in sugar if it is too sour.
9. When sauce is ready, pour in pork meat and stir them together so that pork meat can absorb the tomato sauce.
10. The dish is now ready to serve!

This is my first tried to cook it. Yummy!
